GoodNESS. What a smile that girl has!

She has reason to smile too. This summer she's marrying Marc, a guy who makes her laugh and has become the love of her live. This couple has fun together, even at a session starting before the sun came up. We began at an empty Jefferson Memorial with the sun barely peeking through the columns and made our way through the remaining cherry blossoms nearby. What started as a random thought in my head ("I wonder how many people fall in the Tidal Basin every year) turned into an exercise in trust over the water. Don't worry: no one fell in, and Megan still trusts Marc with her life.

It was starting to look like we were going to miss the cherry blossoms for this session. Stephen is a professional athlete and does a lot of traveling, in addition to having a full schedule while at home. So when those cherry blossoms starting blooming early this year we thought our scheduled session might be too late. But the timing was just right—we caught the end of the peak!

It was a beautiful but slightly chilly day, not enough to ruin our fun, and some of my favorite shots are when Bri & Stephen wrapped up in a blanket to stay warm. We walked around the Jefferson Memorial, the Tidal Basin, and along the Potomac talking about sports and California, where Bri is also from. Besides being a super hot couple, they are also really fun and were not afraid to be themselves in front of the camera.

I left this session recharged from getting outside with my camera after a few weeks of sitting at a computer and writing lots of emails, all the boring stuff. And I left feeling so blessed by the quality of my clients—people like Stephen and Bri who I would spend my time with even if I wasn't working with them.

Last week I had the pleasure of sitting in on a recording session at the legendary Inner Ear Studio with my friends Left on Vermont. Not only are they all talented musicians but they are a lot fun to hang out with too! The album should be out next month and they are celebrating with a show at the Rock & Roll Hotel on April 27th. Get there early—it should be a big crowd!

I'm trying something new with these photos. Recently I've seen some buzz about the Lightroom presets that Visual Supply Co created and thought I'd give them a try. They are supposed to recreate the look of film, and although I only have a little experience with film (from 15 years ago, haha) it looks pretty legit to me. It's hard to see the graininess and grittyness in these web images, but it's certainly there in the high-res images. And it's possible to increase the graininess so it shows in web image—I just didn't have time to make another set of web images. I'm going to print a few of these puppies to see how they look on paper!
