Last week I had the pleasure of sitting in on a recording session at the legendary Inner Ear Studio with my friends Left on Vermont. Not only are they all talented musicians but they are a lot fun to hang out with too! The album should be out next month and they are celebrating with a show at the Rock & Roll Hotel on April 27th. Get there early—it should be a big crowd!
I'm trying something new with these photos. Recently I've seen some buzz about the Lightroom presets that Visual Supply Co created and thought I'd give them a try. They are supposed to recreate the look of film, and although I only have a little experience with film (from 15 years ago, haha) it looks pretty legit to me. It's hard to see the graininess and grittyness in these web images, but it's certainly there in the high-res images. And it's possible to increase the graininess so it shows in web image—I just didn't have time to make another set of web images. I'm going to print a few of these puppies to see how they look on paper!
I am a California photographer who transplanted myself to Washington, DC for a change in scenery. Not that the scenery in California is all that bad—but I'm hungry for new experiences, ideas, and inspiration. To see a complete portfolio go to http://www.nicholasdonner.com.
