Jon and Cynthia were married at the beautiful Whitehall Manor in Bluemont, Virginia. The last time I was here the weather wasn't so great, but this time around it was perfect! The ceremony was just before sunset so were were able to get some shots with the sun really low right after.
This was not my first Roth wedding. Two years ago, Jon was one of the groomsmen in Tom & Dana's wedding so half of the people at least looked familiar to me. The level of the party was the same—this is just a fun family! Add to that Cynthia's friends and family and the quality of dance moves goes up a whole bunch. Everyone had a great time.
This was also an extremely well planned wedding. We had plenty of time for photos, I had time to eat, and time to make a slideshow without a second shooter helping out. I love an organized bride and a thoughtful planner like Sandy Beach.
All the best to Jon & Cynthia! Thanks for letting me be a part of this joy-filled event with your two awesome families!
This was a test shoot to help me plan for my lighting setup on another project. The project I was planning for ended up being indoors so my setup completely changed! Oh, well—at least I got some cool photos of my favorite girl.
I shot this at f/7.1, which let me control how much sunlight was hitting Erin's hair. Then I used a gridded beauty dish as the main light and a small gridded reflector as a fill. A pretty simple setup that I hope to use again!
I am a California photographer who transplanted myself to Washington, DC for a change in scenery. Not that the scenery in California is all that bad—but I'm hungry for new experiences, ideas, and inspiration. To see a complete portfolio go to http://www.nicholasdonner.com.
