I love having a plan in place before a wedding. For every client, I have a schedule worked out and know where I need to be, when I need to be there, and what equipment I will need. That being said, weddings still require a lot of flexibility and a lot of quick problem solving. When we arrived in Sterling at 1757 Golf Club, the reception venue, to start taking photos of the bridal party and of Erin & Matthew, it was nearly dark. We were on schedule to have an hour before sunset, but with a cloudy, foggy, misty day, just about all our light was gone by 4pm. So Erin pulled out our speed lights and we made it work with some dramatic hand-held lighting, plus the existing driving range lights and decorative lights. In this kind of situation, having an experienced second shooter like Erin is VERY helpful. We were able to get the portraits we needed and get this fun couple off to the party.
DJ Lauren Bobby did her thing, making sure everyone was having a good time on the dance floor. We had a mini-reunion with our first mutual wedding clients Don & Erin, from a few years ago. This wedding marks the end of my wedding season for 2013—on to planning for the big things happening for 2014 wedding clients!
Wow, I was thinking it looks DARK in those first few photos, but they came out amazing! It's always good to have to stretch a little and shoot in a different way. The details, especially the one of the lockets, are beautiful too.
