The rain was supposed to hold off until 6pm. I like to keep an eye on these things while preparing for a wedding. While I was driving down to Fawn Lake Country Club I was excited about the cloud cover and the extra outdoor options we'd have for portraits. By 2pm, the rain started coming down. Time to get creative...
I was by myself and knew I'd have to work quickly so I had several speedlights set up on light stands ready to go right away. We used overhangs, trees, umbrellas, doorways and lots of creative cropping along with lights reflecting off of all sorts of things. At first my clients looked worried about their wedding photos. After seeing a few of the images on my LCD they were able to go back to enjoying the day knowing that everything would be OK. My top priority is having my clients enjoy their wedding so this was a major win for me.
Stacey and Dave have a great love story and I was so privileged to be there to document it. They have wonderful friends and family and we all had a great time celebrating with them!
I am a California photographer who transplanted myself to Washington, DC for a change in scenery. Not that the scenery in California is all that bad—but I'm hungry for new experiences, ideas, and inspiration. To see a complete portfolio go to http://www.nicholasdonner.com.
