It's no real surprise that many of my favorite photos from the past year are of my leading lady—Erin. With her, my life experience is so much sweeter and photography work so much better and easier. Some of the above are photos that she took and some are photos that she was holding the lighting for. Some of the subjects are smiling in the photos because they are reacting to Erin's smile or her laugh. Some of the photos were her idea, but I pressed the shutter and some were my idea, but she pressed the shutter.
Looking back over a year's worth of portrait work it's clear that we make a pretty good team. I'm thankful to be working with her and for all the ways that she makes me a better photographer. It's been an amazing year, from our weddings in Greece, New York, Philadelphia, West Virginia, DC, Maryland, and Virginia, to newborn sessions with good friends to portraits literally in my own backyard. We've shot photos from the land, the air, and the sea, racked up some decent frequent flier miles and put more road behind my truck than I care to think about. With each new experience and each new opportunity that photography has given us, Erin and I have grown closer together and we have made significant relationships with our clients—the whole reason I have a business in the first place.
Many new things are in store for 2014 and I'll be excited to share them over the next few weeks...
