Erin, Andrew and I went on an early morning hike to get a few engagement photos as the sun came up. It was freezing cold but really good to get outside and back into nature for the first time in, well, too long. They brought me to a beautiful waterfall off one of the trails in Great Falls. After that, we made a quick change of scenery and took a few more photos near the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.
Next month I'll be photographing their wedding on the island of Santorini—in Greece! I'm looking forward to this trip for so many reasons, but among them are hanging out with this beautiful, athletic and fun couple some more and documenting their very unique wedding day.
Rob and Sarith had a classic downtown wedding. I started with the girls down at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel and loved having plenty of time for portraits all over the hotel. Then we all hopped in a limo and went down to the Capitol to take some formal photos. After that, the party really got started with a ceremony and reception at the Tabard Inn, a super swanky venue/restaurant/hotel near Dupont Circle in DC. It was a really fun day for everyone, myself included, partly because we ran AHEAD of schedule and had plenty of time to get great photos. The other part was working with a fun and relaxed couple who were enjoying every second of their wedding day.
I am a California photographer who transplanted myself to Washington, DC for a change in scenery. Not that the scenery in California is all that bad—but I'm hungry for new experiences, ideas, and inspiration. To see a complete portfolio go to http://www.nicholasdonner.com.
