Linda and Derek had a beautiful ceremony at Vienna Presbyterian Church, exchanging vows they had written themselves, some of the most heartfelt vows I had ever heard. After the ceremony we took some photos in and around the historic chapel, built well over a century ago, and then across the street in a garden. After the morning ceremony, we went to Clyde's for an afternoon party. I was already prepared for some phenomenal dancing, especially from Derek who's moves can be seen here and here. I was thankful to be shooting with Katarina Price on this wedding and for the perspective she brings with her camera.
I know that a wedding day is supposed to be all about the happy couple. But I also feel like it is, perhaps just as importantly, a celebration of the people supporting the relationship—the family that grew each person into who they are today and the friends that will be there for the next 50 years, in the good times and the bad. The wedding celebration that Maureen and Rob planned felt like a good balance of the two. The ceremony was held at a beautiful Catholic church in Silver Spring, St. Bernadette's, and the reception was at Maggiano's. After an Italian feast, Maureen and Rob made sure everyone joined in on the party and tried to dance with every one of their guests. Bryan George Music Services kept people on the dance floor until the very end and was a pleasure to work with.
Typical DC in August - it was hot! But this couple kept their cool and took the time to get some outdoor portraits near the church. I'm glad we did, they look great!
I am a California photographer who transplanted myself to Washington, DC for a change in scenery. Not that the scenery in California is all that bad—but I'm hungry for new experiences, ideas, and inspiration. To see a complete portfolio go to http://www.nicholasdonner.com.
