Brian proposed to Catherine (on my birthday!) in Old Town Alexandria so it made sense for us to go back there for this engagement session. Even on a crowded day it's easy to find great photo spots among the brick and cobblestones, and along the waterline. This was a really fun and easy session—they both have great smiles, trusted my ideas, and had fun with the whole experience. It usually takes a few minutes and a few photos before a couple whom I've never met gets comfortable with me photographing them, but Catherine and Brian were ready to go right away! And we got tons of cute shots from the afternoon.
Janice and Jeff were married at the Newseum, just blocks from the US Capitol in Washington DC. The ceremony was on the top floor balcony overlooking Pennsylvania Avenue and it was a gorgeous day. We took our photos all around the museum and in some of the cool areas inside before the museum opened.
A unique touch was having a magician to entertain guests during lunch. Josh Norris mystified the children and the adults with all sorts of tricks, and even had a special surprise just for the bride and groom.
I am a California photographer who transplanted myself to Washington, DC for a change in scenery. Not that the scenery in California is all that bad—but I'm hungry for new experiences, ideas, and inspiration. To see a complete portfolio go to http://www.nicholasdonner.com.
