PROPOSAL: GARY & STERLING
Gary planned an elaborate scavenger hunt o' love for Sterling on Saturday morning at the Smithsonian Castle. Using clues placed in an envelope, she had to find 6 more envelopes before she got to him, the final envelope, and ultimately, a big question to answer. With such a complex plan, Gary enlisted the help of some of his friends to guard the envelopes. The first photo is right after the tasks were divided and each person was about to head to their stations. The next photos are during and right after the proposal (she said yes!) and the final photo is Team Gary celebrating with the happy couple. I love it when a plan comes together!

CORPORATE HEADSHOTS
Last week I had the opportunity to visit the Department of Health and Human Services to take some portraits of two key leaders with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. I was particularly excited about this project because I had just picked up a new portrait lens—the 50mm f/1.4. We didn't have much time due to their busy schedules but I managed to get a few good ones with the 50mm (and a couple speedlights) that their Markeing and PR firm will be able to use. So far, a good investment!

INDEPENDENCE DAY
This year I gathered with friends near the Marine Corps memorial to celebrate Independence Day and watch the fireworks over the capitol. It was a scorcher, but we had all the essentials to make for a fun day—blankets, picnic lunches, apple pie and little kids running around barefoot!
I had rented a long lens for a wedding the day before and since I was able to keep it for the entire weekend it was a perfect opportunity to try shooting fireworks. The focal length was great for shooting across the river towards the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument and the Capitol building, and capturing the All-American scene that was unfolding before the crowd yesterday.

ON TAP MAGAZINE - JULY 2010
This month, On Tap decided to put John Isner on the cover in anticipation of him being at the Legg-Mason tournament here in DC. This was before the record-breaking 13 hour match at Wimbledon that took place last week. Using some of the amazing Nike advertising I saw while in Europe as inspiration, I designed this sporty looking cover. Look for the print version at your favorite DC metro area bar or restaurant or read the story online here. And, keep an eye out for some action shots of John Isner to show up on my blog next month.
